City of Lincoln 10k

Well it’s the night before the Lincoln 10k Road Race… and I spent this evening out at a friend’s Hen Do.  Sounds bad but I was home by about 10.30pm and had chicken pasta for my main course… so not really that bad?!!

I think that it sums up my training regime really!

All that snow and ice in January really didn’t help my running.  So I did other things like badminton.  Then I got into some running again, then I couldn’t be bothered, then I did more again.  Last Sunday I did a 4 mile rum in 45 minutes and it felt like it was going to kill me. I am definitely not as fit as I was last year.

After the 10k last March, when I did it in 1 hour and 3 minutes, I set myself the target of doing it this year in 1 hour or less.  I’m not sure how realistic that actually is, but I’m going to give it my best shot.  A friend once said as long when you finish you know you couldn’t have done any more then you can be proud, and really that is all I’m asking my body for.  And to be honest, I don’t think it’ll be my legs that give up first… it’s more likely to be my mind that puts in the poor performance if anything.

But as I say, I’m gonna do my best and really give the 60 minutes a good go… bring it on!

I’m running as number 839, so if you happen to be in Lincoln watching the runners give me a shout if you see me!!

I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow!
