Dead Sea Soak

Higher Nature sent me a tub of their Special Dead Sea Soak to try out during this particularly busy time.

It is designed to bring the benefits of hot springs to the bath tub – I’ve never tried hot springs myself but wish I had been able to compare this properly!  It’s described as relaxing and indulgent, containing over 21 key minerals including magnesium, calcium, potassium and iodine to your bath water.  Ideal for nourishing, soothing and refreshing tired and aching muscles, it also cleanses and detoxifies the skin.

To use you can either put a few scoop fulls of the salts directly into your bath, or put them inside the little bag provided – depending on whether you want to dissolve the salts throughout the bath or keep them in one place. Either way the minerals end up in the water and therefore on and in your skin.

I’m no scientist so I can’t tell you the exact make-up of my bath water, but I would say that while I like the idea of this product and what it promises, I prefer a bubble bath.  After using the salts on their own (which was indeed relaxing – there is nothing like a hot bath to wind down in the evening), I chose to add some bubble bath next time as well so I ended up with a mineral bath that also had bubbles, the best of both worlds.  I have absolutely no idea if adding the bubble bath counteracts the effects of the mineral soak, but it made it much more relaxing for me.
