Highs and Lows of 2012 (Meme)

posted in: Motorcycling, Personal | 2

I spotted a new Meme over on Kate on Thin Ice and thought about taking part, but for some reason decided against it. Then I was tagged in the very same meme by Alison at Dragons and Fairy Dust so I took that as a sign I had to sit and do this one after all. So here are my responses to “Highs and Lows of 2012”.

1. What was your happiest event?

Carrying the Torch - BBC Lincolnshire

Carrying the Olympic flame through Lincoln. Wow.

2. What was the saddest thing to happen?

Things will never be the same again after losing my father in law and my granddad in the summer. I can’t even describe the sadness I have felt.

3. What was the most unlikely thing to happen that actually went ahead and did?

I’m going to say carrying the Olympic flame again… I simply could not believe that I got nominated in the first place, and then short listed, and then actually chosen. I felt all kinds of proud and had the most amazing experience ever. I see that torch every time I walk into my lounge.

4. Who let you down?

The only person who has let me down this year is myself. I could do better.

5. Who supported you?

More people than ever this year. I have been physically and emotionally supported by friends and family near and far. I would not have coped without you. Thank you.

6. Tell us one thing you learned.

How to make fudge! Properly that is, at The Fudge Kitchen in Cambridge!

7. Tell us one thing that made you laugh.

Extreme Tromboning in Yorkshire for Merrell

Standing at Buckstones Edge on Marsden Moor in the wind, rain and hail, with my trombone, keeping a promise to Merrell. I think it made a lot of other people laugh too.

8. Tell us one thing that made you cry.

Bikers at Inch Beach

This photograph of Rick, my husband and Graham walking along Inch Beach in Ireland in August 2011. Earlier this year we had some prints done to put up on our walls, and this was one of the shots that made it. Bike trips will never be the same.

9. Tell us three things your child or children did to make you feel proud.

This one isn’t relevant as I don’t have children.

10. Tell us one thing that made you proud of yourself.

Taking part in my first photography exhibition in Lincoln in September. People actually came to view my images!

11. Tell us one challenge you overcame.

I can tell you two – I walked the London Moonwalk and the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in May. My legs are pretty awesome I reckon!

12. Tell us three things you would like to change about your life in 2013

This is an interesting question. Things I want to change about my life? There are some things, none of which I will put here. I will say that 2013 will be a year to be true to myself, in which I focus more and do my best to be the best I can be. I guess we will have to see what 2013 brings!

Being a meme I am now supposed to tag some other people to take part. But being New Year’s Eve already I’ll simply leave the invitation open to anyone who would like to give this one a go. If you do take part please do leave me a link below so I can make sure I read your post.

There was loads going on in 2012 for sure. I’d like to complete lots more challenges in 2013, but without all the other emotional stuff around them!
