[ so·lil·o·quy – the act of speaking one’s thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers ]
The world is a hard place to live in sometimes.
I will never understand the ability of some human beings to be so absolutely abhorrent.
A bloody massacre at the offices of satirical publication Charlie Hebdo, several more shootings in other places, hostage situations, and so many families devastated by the actions of a small number of extremists.
The attacks appear to be aimed at the very idea of free speech, something which humans have been driven to achieve for centuries. Something which I hope will never be quashed.
I join the rest of Europe and the World with my prayers for those affected by these murders; for all those who have lost loved ones, have damaged property, and are now scared to go about their business.
I leave you with one of my favourite cartoon responses to the events of Thursday.
Je Suis Charlie.

I thought that was a really clever cartoon when I saw it – very apt #JeSuisCharlie
