{ Sunday Soliloquy } Make it Happen!

[ so·lil·o·quy – the act of speaking one’s thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers ]

Today is International Women’s Day. The worldwide event has been observed since in the early 1900’s. Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. This year International Women’s Day has a theme – Make it Happen. We are being encouraged to not only celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women, but also to do something towards achieving something ourselves.

This quote from Goethe fits well here. I shared it on social media earlier in the week but it seems fitting today.

Goethe Quote

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.

Goethe

Do you have a dream? A goal? Something you feel needs to be changed either in the world or in your own life? What do you want to achieve?

Maybe you have a life goal, something absolutely massive. Or maybe there is a challenge you want to complete. Perhaps you are thinking of making a political stance in the run up to the General Election. Or maybe there is a charity you want to raise money for.

Whatever that dream is, ladies and gentlemen alike, if you want to be successful in achieving it, then thinking about it is not enough.

Write it down. Tell someone about it. And then make a start.

Do something today, right now, towards that goal. Do something else tomorrow. And a third thing the day after. If you do something every single day that takes you one step closer to your dream, you will get there. It may take some time, but if you commit and focus, and actually do something towards, you can make it happen.

I’d better listen to my own advice…

Life is all about the journey. Make it happen.
