"Official Photographer"

As I mentioned in my Year in Photos entry for 6th March, on Saturday we reopened our Church building following a year of extensive rebuilding and refurbishment work.

To be honest it was surprising it was even standing, or that one or more of us hadn’t fallen into one of the massive wells that formed part of the “foundation”… it is an understatement to say that the place needed some work doing!

Somehow I managed to be designated as “official photographer” for the event on Saturday. I was really up for this to start with, thought it would be a great way to practice my photography skills, especially when I don’t get much chance to take pictures of people. But by Saturday morning I was so nervous – totally worried none of the photos would come out right.  After all, in event photography you only get one chance to get it right – you can’t ask everyone to go back and do the whole thing again!

But when I went through the photos I was really pleased with them, and so I thought I’d share a few of my favourites on my blog.  I hope that this is a good starting point for photographing events for me, and I’ll get better and better as opportunities present themselves.

I apologise if you are the subject of one of my images here!

More of the photos I took can be found on the Boston Salvation Army website (another one of my projects!) – www.bostonsa.org.uk, and also on facebook.
