Year in Photos (26 Mar 2010)

Last night I had the privaledge of going to listen to a 17-year-old record his AS Level performance (one of my sister’s students).  8 minutes of solo and ensemble pieces.  The difference with this one… this lad’s instrument is the Cathedral Organ, and for his performance he played the organ at Lincoln Cathedral.

There is something about Lincoln Cathedral, it is a very awe inspiring building, and it is not very often you get the opportunity to be one of just six or seven people in the whole building.  That organ does sound amazing, and this lad was  way beyond AS Level standard, he was excellent.

One thing I was able to do was go up to see the organ – you do get a different view of a Cathedral from there.  Hence my photo of the day for Friday (I really wish I’d taken my DSLR and not just my point and shoot!)…

26/03/10: St Hughes Choir and the Altar from the Organ at Lincoln Cathedral

I also wanted to share this photo of the Cathedral – it was about 5pm, a lovely blue sky – and the moon.
