Year in Photos (12 Jul 2010)

I don’t at all like the way the main part of Newquay has become a haven for stag/hen parties and “coming of age” holidays, which just ruin the look, feel and safety of the place.  The harbour/marina area and Fistral still seem fine, but the main town is full of amusement arcades, clubs and bars, and people drunk at lunch time.  It’s a real shame.  If you want to go there for a break I would recommend Watergate Bay, where we stayed, as this has charm and is gorgeous but is still close enough to Newquay for the shops and restaurants.

However, one of the things I do like about Newquay are the surf shops… there are LOADS of them… and I love surf gear/brands!

We did quite a lot of wishing as we wandered around the shops, and both ended up with a souvenier of our trip.  Mine was this hoodie – no, not a Life Guard one in red with the yellow writing and my name stuck on the back like you could buy in so many of the shops, but this Animal one.

Oh, and the weather in Lincolnshire today meant I needed it too… is the summer now over?
