Sheer Blonde

I’ve been using the John Frieda Sheer Blonde “Go Blonder” shampoo and conditioner for a couple of weeks now and so thought it was time to let you know what I think.

I purchased the shampoo and conditioner from Boots where it cost £5.59 for each of the two 250ml tubes.  I’ve not had my hair highlighted for months (since Christmas maybe – oh dear!!) and I’m afraid to dye it myself at home, so I wanted something that would make it a bit lighter – rather like it would be if I’d been on holiday in the sun for a couple of weeks.

The duo definitely clean my hair, and a few people have commented that my hair looks nice recently – which is a compliment when I haven’t had anything done to it for so long.  And I think it is lighter, not much, but it does seem to have that “sunkissed” look.

But there are a couple of issues.  The first is with the conditioner.  It definitely softens my hair, but it really does take some rinsing!  It’s thick and creamy which is lovely, but takes a lot of water to rinse out.  It’s perfect for use in the shower, but if I had to wash my hair in the sink for any reason I would avoid this conditioner as it would just not come out.

The second is the packaging.  My eye sight isn’t great but I don’t need glasses to see normally, and I don’t have a problem seeing in the shower normally.  However every time I used these products I had to pick them up and read the label in order to know if it was the shampoo or the conditioner I was holding.  The words “shampoo” and “conditioner” are very small, and the tubes are remarkably similar.  In fact, I didn’t even notice until I took the photos for this blog post that the yellow colour on the conditioner tube goes down further than on the shampoo tube – not by much but they have obviously tried to make them different.  Is it me?  Either the writing needs to be bigger or the difference in tubes needs to be more obvious… maybe one should be yellow all over?

Overall I do like the Sheer Blonde Go Blonder shampoo, and as the cold weather sets in I don’t mind spending an extra minute or two in the shower to thoroughly rinse off the conditioner, but I am getting fed up of having to pick up and read the tubes to know which one to use.  Go Blonder doesn’t replace the need for me to have my hair highlighted again (it’s not sold as that), but it is nice to use if you’re not going into the hot sun.

I enjoy reviewing products and other things for Splodz Blogz, and it’s becoming a much more regular feature on this blog.  If you have anything you would like me to review please let me know, I am always willing to try things out!  I wrote this post a while ago which gives you an idea of my interests.
