This morning I received an email from Lincoln City Council:

Thank you for entering the 15th Annual City of Lincoln 10k Road Race. Your application and payment has been processed and below is your race number.

Race Number: 725

As you will know from some posts earlier this year, I have taken part in the City of Lincoln 10k Road Race for four years now… and every year that sub-60 minute finish time has been just out of reach.  Not this time though – on Sunday 3rd April 2011 I WILL finish the Lincoln 10k in under 1 hour!

I’ve attempted to start some training already by setting myself the 10 Mile Challenge which gives me a target of 10 miles to complete each week either running or cycling. It’s been cycling so far but as the weather turns into winter I would think running will take over.

My times for the last four years are:

  • Lincoln 10k, March 2007, 1 hour 12 minutes
  • Lincoln 10k, March 2008, 1 hour 7 minutes
  • Lincoln 10k, March 2009, 1 hour 3 minutes
  • Lincoln 10k, March 2010, 1 hour 6.5 minutes

I was doing well cutting down my times until this year (I blame being very sick overnight before the race and therefore not being anywhere near my best – maybe an excuse but it really didn’t help)… but I see that as a blip and will beat my personal best of 1 hour 3 minutes in 2011 by at least 3 minutes.

If you would like to join me and the thousands of other runners taking part in the Road Race on 3rd April 2011 visit the Lincoln 10k website here: http://lincoln10k.co.uk/ – and comment below with your race number so I know you’re taking part!
