Enlighten Your Skincare Ritual – Bodhi

“Bodhi” means enlightenment, and that is the vision behind this range of bath and shower products.

Bodhi Bath and Shower Treatments

Bodhi kindly sent me three travel sized bottles of their bath and shower therapy to try, and my first impression was a great one – the little zip up bag is really cute isn’t it?  It’s just the sort of thing I’d use again for one night stays for work and play… But the packaging aside, these are my views of the three gels – I had Jasmine Falls, Palmarosa Verde and Ylang Ylang  Incensa.

Jasmine Falls – Relaxing

Relax, unwind and soak in the euphoric aroma of Jasmine Absolute, Lavender and Vetyver. This potent brew is designed to help de-stress, soothe the mind and promote a sense of well-being.

Ideal at the end of the day before sleep. Skin is left deeply cleansed and regenerated, senses are calmed, balanced and relaxed. Suitable for all skin types.

I’m a big fan of relaxing bubble baths.  And this one says “relaxing” on the bottle so I was looking forward to giving it a try.  I used a fair amount in my bath and the smell was amazing – really strong, and yes, really relaxing when I breathed in deeply (yes I know the breathing in deeply thing is also relaxing itself, but the scent here definitely helped).

As far as the bubbles went, well, they didn’t really last long.  Now Bodhi don’t say this is a bubble bath they say it’s a bath treatment, so it’s really all about the aroma and softening of the water, which it does very well.  But it did create bubbles that lasted a little while but not like a proper soapy bubble bath.

Palmarosa Verde – Purifying

Spring clean your skin with our purifying blend of Palmarosa, Bourbon Geranium and Bulgarian Damask Rose Absolute. Embrace sunny mornings, freshly mown grass and the scent of budding blossom in the air.

Skin is refreshed, feels purified and enlivened with a delicate fragrance. Suitable for all skin types, especially combination.

Another incredibly strong aroma.  I’ve mentioned before that creams and lotions for me need to be subtle and gentle on the nose, but for baths and showers I’m more than happy to be woken up by a scent that makes me relaxed or refreshed.  There was absolutely a spring fragrance to this one, and it was really awakening.

I tried this one in the bath but also as a shower gel (Bodhi say these products are for both) – it works great as both, no real complaints.  In the shower the flavour filled the room and was carried in the steam, it was really lovely to use first thing in the morning.

Ylang Ylang Incensa – Sensual

Luxuriate in the Oriental sensuality of Ylang-Ylang and Patchouli, spiked with Honeysuckle, Neroli and Pink Peppercorn. Intensely flighty, yet seriously grounded – this is Yin & Yang in perfect balance.

Skin is left soothed, soft, supple and highly fragrant. Suitable for all skin types, especially dry or irritated.

Possibly the most potent scent of them all – but in a good way!  This one had a bit of spice about it, kind of peppery, but again quite uplifting and completely fills the bathroom when you’re using it.  It’s described as sensual – well I’m not really sure what that’s supposed to make me feel, but I really liked the way it made my skin soft!

I probably used way too much of this when I tried it in the bath, oops, but I think the idea with these is to overwhelm your senses and make the most of the oils and extracts so carefully put in each bottle.

Bodhi Bath and Shower Treatments

Overall I can safely say these little bottles contain the strongest smelling bath and shower gels I’ve ever used (yes, even more than Original Source Tea Tree and Mint, which I also love).  They do work as both bubble bath and shower gel, although the bubbles don’t last more than about 15 minutes in my experience and you do need quite a bit to lather up in the shower.

Bodhi Bath and Shower Treatments are a real treat at £23 for a 250ml bottle from the Bodhi website (maybe not something to buy yourself but stick it on your Christmas list – HINT!).  There are also a number of gift ideas (a bit like the travel set I was sent) if you fancy a little treat.  If you try one (or more) let me know what you think by commenting below.

Great review – I’m a big fan of Bodhi. I haven’t tried the Jasmine Falls yet though, but will be putting it on my wish list after reading your review!
