Year in Photos (10 Aug 11) – Tintagel

What a glorious day in north Cornwall – we went to Tintagel Castle, which is a medieval castle (ruins) on an island. It’s quite a (steep) walk from the town of Tintagel (made famous by Doc Martin) down to the bottom of the cliff, and then some steep steps back up again onto the island. The views were amazing – the clear skies means we could see for miles along the Cornish coastline. Well worth the entry fee for the views alone I’d say, although English Heritage really should put some staff on the island to answer questions about the history of the castle and the area.
