Today is the culmination of the Hindu Festival of Lights – Diwali. Families spend a week or so getting ready for the festival, which includes decorating their homes and lighting candles. Tonight there are parties and fireworks and candles to celebrate all that is light. I was given this candle on Monday as a gift to celebrate the festival, so this evening I lit it and put it on the window ledge.
