A Blogging Secret Santa – My Gift

The other day I told you that I was taking part in this year’s Blogger Secret Santa Challenge created by MoneySupermarket.com. I was paired with Fay of Food Fables and spent quite a bit of time reading her blog before settling on what I hoped would be a gift she would enjoy. At the same time she was looking at my blog trying to decide what to get me…

We have now exchanged gifts and while it’s not Christmas quite yet we both ripped into the parcels to discover what we’d chosen for each other. I opened mine with a big smile on my face – I love receiving things in the post, and surprises are very exciting.

Fay must have realised how I love my food (yes, yes I know, I talk about foot a lot!) because her gift to me was a beautifully presented hamper from Millies. Fay asked them to give me a Taste of Yorkshire, where she is from. What a brilliant idea. And a yummy one too!

In the hamper I have a selection of Christmas-themed products from Yorkshire, including Bracken Hill Fine Foods Yorkshire Farmers Pickle and Strawberry Preserve, some Shropshire Spice Company Chestnut Stuffing Mix, The Fine Cheese Company Basil Crackers, Pukka After Dinner Fennel Chicory and Cardamom Tea, a nut selection, and Choc-Affair Orange Milk Chocolate.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Hampers like this make great gifts – they’re local, varied and introduce you to companies and products you may not have come across otherwise.

So thank you Fay for a really lovely gift – I am looking forward to working my way through the goodies (I wonder if any of them will be left to share with family on Christmas Day?!).

Oh, and if you wondered, the gift I chose for Fay was a Tagine. I realised she loved spices, loved to cook, obviously has talent in the kitchen. It was a risk as while I knew she hadn’t mentioned moroccan cooking on her blog she may already have one. She tweeted when she received her gift to say she had really wanted one so yay – and phew!

(PS I haven’t made those Rolo Cupcakes yet, but I will do!)
