Review: Walkers Home Grown

We all know that it is good to buy and eat local, and at least British, produce where possible. Not only does it keep our food miles down but it also helps support farmers and growers within our own economy.

Walkers have recently announced that the flavours that people know and love now include home-grown ingredients sourced from British farms and producers. This builds on their commitment to use only British potatoes. The 11 flavours from the Walkers core range will feature ingredients from Somerset, the Vale of Evesham, Devon, Dorset and  Worcester.

Go on – can you name all 11 flavours – I’ve given you some clues already…

To help showcase their Home Grown range, Walkers sent me a hamper containing all the core flavours plus a few of the special ingredients they are now using. The Worcester sauce, tomatoes and cheese are all great quality ingredients that can be sourced right back to the person who produced them. I’d say that’s great news. British food companies should do their bit to support British farmers and producers – it’s taken Walkers two years to source what they need for their new seasonings, and I am pleased that they have done it.

And I can confirm the crisps taste very good – they are traditional Walkers crisps with plenty of flavour. The new versions of the seasonings are available now in all sizes of Walkers crisps bags.

Oh, and if you didn’t know, here are the 11 flavours…

What’s your favourite? I am a traditional Ready Salted, Salt & Vinegar or Cheese & Onion kind of gal, but I have to admit I rather enjoyed these ones which were new to me…

Disclaimer: I was sent a hamper of Walkers Home Grown crisps so I could tell you about them. I have not been told what to say and have been no less honest as a result of receiving the product for free.
