Review: Back to School with Walkers Mighty Lights

There has been so much talk over the last week or so about kids going back to School. It’s a big thing – children starting new schools, moving up years, meeting new teachers and friends, wearing new uniforms, learning new things. Now I’m very much older I obviously don’t have to “go back to School”, but Walkers wanted to help me get into the spirit of the season by sending me a back to School goody bag and some of their new Mighty Lights crisps to try out.

These new crisps are advertised as having 30% less fat than standard crisps. The bags are 25g and so quite small – I guess this makes them ideal meal accompaniments for children. A bag contains 114 calories which is quite a nice small number for a bit of a naughty snack.

They are ridged and so have a good crunch, and the flavouring is good. They are not too greasy (although crisps will always be a bit greasy) and make a rather satisfying snack. Of the three flavours – roast chicken, cheese and onion and lightly salted – my favourite was the roast chicken which I found work perfectly in a tuna or cheese sandwich!

To be honest I don’t know if I’ll be buying these regularly. Crisps are a treat, not a staple, and I try not to keep a supply in the house (they don’t last long if I do!). I think I prefer the standard Walkers to these – I know they have a higher fat content, but there is something about ordinary crisps that I enjoy.

Disclaimer: I was sent the Walkers Mighty Lights Back to School pack so I could try out the new crisps. I had no obligation to feature them on Splodz Blogz. I have not been told what to write and have been no less honest as a result of receiving them for free.
