Social media is full of awesome and inspiring images. After writing my How-To Instagram Guide last weekend I thought I would revisit the subject to share with you some of my favourite Instagram accounts.
Here’s my top 20 accounts that you should definitely be following. If you are new to the network, or even if you’re a long-time user, I would recommend you hit follow on each of these (in no particular order). Enjoy!
1. National Geographic @natgeo
Sharing photos taken by their photographers from all over the world, the National Geographic Instagram includes everything including science, nature, people, culture, weather and more.
2. Andrew Knapp – Find Momo @andrewknapp
Designer and photographer Andrew Knapp’s Border Collie Momo is a pro at hide and seek (one incredibly well trained dog). A fun game for any day.
3. Sophie Radcliffe @challengesophie
You cannot fail to be inspired by Sophie to get out and spend time outdoors. Living in Chamonix, she shares photos of mountains, snow, cycling, running and climbing.
4. Humans of New York @humansofny
Introducing you to the people of New York, one story at a time. Some long, some short, but always human.
5. Emily Thomas @emitoms
This Huffington Post contributor wants to inspire you to be happy every day. Her photos and sentiments are both beautiful.
6. SIGG @siggswitzerland
Yes, a brand, but one that I think does Instagram very well. Lots of their own product shots, but equally lots of regrams of SIGG bottles in use all over the world.
7. Dr. Cacinda Maloney – Points and Travel @pointsandtravel
Cacinda has travelled every six weeks of her life for the last 20 years. She shows how to experience the most amazing luxury places the world has to offer.
8. Tobias Mews @tobiasmews
Athlete, journalist and filmmaker Tobias travels the world with his bike, running shoes and wetsuit, writing as he goes. If you want adventure photos you will find them here.
9. Karen Harvey @harveyhotdog
A “behind the scenes” Instagram feed from photographer and writer Karen Harvey. You’ll find life, food, art, interiors and fast cars as well as some “chicken chasing” and “cat cuddling”.
10. Osprey Packs @ospreypacks
Another brand, and one that felt it was good to regram my photos! So much of the great outdoors in this account, with the Osprey Packs logo well featured of course.
11. EXP Adventures @expadventures
Personalised expedition company EXP Adventures posts photos that really make me want to get away from it all and go on an adventure. Hard to resist.
12. Alexandre Buisse @alexbuisse
Alexandre Buisse is an adventure photographer from Chamonix in France. He I climbs alpine, rock and ice, skis and flies, and has some of the most awesome views I’ve ever seen on his feed.
13. Microsoft Lumia Connects @_connects
I love it when people create amazing images on their phones, and this official Microsoft account features some of the best Lumia photography and creativity from around the world.
14. Hungry Peace @hungrypeace
Describing herself as “a Cotswold girl always up for a breath of fresh air and a belly full of food”, Hungry Peace is no stranger to adventure or the top of a hill.
15. Charlie Watson – The Runner Beans @therunnerbeans
Prepare to be inspired to exercise! Fitness and lifestyle blogger Charlie just loves to run!
16. Miss Underground @missunderground
Ever ridden the London Underground? Know how busy it is? You’ll be surprised by these beautifully symmetrical shots of stations, tunnels and staircases from a girl in love with the Tube.
17. Skipology @skipology
I’ve had the absolute pleasure of exhibiting alongside Skip, a true phone photographer who uses his iPhone and iPad to create some stunning black and white images.
18. Ali Maffucci – Inspiralized @inspiralized
Time to eat healthily? This feed from Ali Maffucci makes noodles from vegetables to create super healthy incredibly low-carb meals. Time to spiralize!
19. Sean Conway @conway_sean
Sean is the first and only person in history to complete the 900 mile length of Britain coastal swim – and was named 2014 adventurer of the year. Oh and he’s renovating an awesome boat.
20. BBC News @bbcnews
Find out about the world’s main news headlines without leaving Instagram using the BBC News feed. An innovative way of using images and short videos to tell news stories.
