BOOK REVIEW | THE GIRL OUTDOORS

Sian Anna Lewis is a fellow blogger and writer who just wants to be outside. Her first book, The Girl Outdoors, is her blog in paper form; pages and pages of adventure ideas and advice, including everything from full scale expeditions to her favourite hot chocolate recipe.

Sian exudes enthusiasm for adventure, and I know from the couple of times I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with her, loves nothing more than to inspire and encourage others to spend more time having awesome experiences in the great outdoors. I also know from speaking to her the amount of time and effort that went into writing this book, and so when I was able to get my hands on a copy, I knew I had to share it with you.

A cross between a guide book for adventure and a bucket list suggestion box, Sian covers all kinds of outdoors activities. Split into four sections – Active Outdoors, Wild Adventures, Wild Cooking, Crafts and Wellbeing, and Wanderlust – there is something for all types of adventurer here. Within each section there are activity guides, ideas for expeditions, tips and advice, kit lists, and suggestions for places to go and do. And no, it’s not just for the girls, The Girl Outdoors is full of hints and tips that everyone can make the most of.

The photos used to illustrate the pages show Sian and some of her friends taking part in the adventures she speaks of; this is a book presented by someone who knows what she is talking about. Sian has done the things mentioned on the pages and speaks from experience – she wants to take you with her next time. Consider The Girl Outdoors as your adventure buddy; here’s a book load of hints and tips to anyone who fancies getting started in the world of outdoors adventure travel.

If you took this book literally you would have a lifetime of adventure ideas to keep you going. And if that’s not an excellent reason to make sure you take a look inside, I don’t know what is! The Girl Outdoors would make a great buy for anyone wanting a friend to give them a little bit of adventure planning inspiration and help. Find it here on Amazon.

I’m absolutely loving reading outdoorsy adventure style books at the moment – motivational titles like this one, guide books, and adventure stories. What do you think I should read next? Make me a suggestion in the comments below…
