Welcome back to the Splodz Blogz One Hour Outside February Photo Challenge – an annual tradition that’s been inspiring creativity for the past nine years. Whether you’re a returning participant or new to the challenge, I’m excited to share this year’s themes with you.

This February, let’s aim to do two things every day: spend a bit of time outdoors, and capture a photo.

Your World in Pictures

Nowadays, while our photos – be they on blogs, social media, or just stored on our phones – more curated and numerous, there’s something liberating about being a little less meticulous with our snaps.

Here’s a simple, month-long challenge to bring you back into the present moment over the next four weeks. Consider this a morsel of image-based mindfulness to spark creativity, encourage focus, and pay closer attention to the world around you.

As part of my One Hour Outside project, I’m inviting you to let the themes inspire your daily outdoor adventures. While it’s not mandatory, perhaps this challenge will encourage you to step outside every day in February, even if it’s just for a few minutes to capture a relevant snapshot.

One Hour Outside February Photo Challenge

Every day in February, take a photo that reflects the given prompt.

If you also want to, share your photo on your favourite social media platform using #SplodzDPC. With 28 photos documenting life as you experience it, you’ll have a creative project for the month and a collection of memories to look back on.

Feel free to interpret the daily themes in any way that suits your life. It will be fascinating to see how each of us views the prompts differently – and occasionally, in the same way.

While the idea is to take and share your photo on the given day, there are no strict rules here (it’s all for fun, after all). Sharing old photos is perfectly fine, and I often find myself digging into my archive.

Don’t stress if you can’t participate every day, please feel free to jump in and out as you feel inspired.

The core aim of the challenge is to use the daily prompts to see the world around you a little differently and share something authentic. If these themes give you the extra push to get outside each day (for your One Hour Outside), that’s wonderful. If you’re already enjoying the outdoors, you’re ahead of the game. But if circumstances keep you indoors – due to work, illness, or other reasons – I’m sure you’ll find a way to make the themes work for you too.

Sharing Your Images

Each day, simply take a look at the theme and snap a photo with that in mind. This challenge is for you, so have fun with it!

If you feel like sharing, post your images on your favourite social media (or on your blog, vlog, or anywhere else you like) using #SplodzDPC. The hashtag allows me and others taking part to find your photographs and see what you’ve been capturing. Please consider liking and commenting on others’ photos; it’s the same hashtag we’ve used for years, so you can also check out some of last year’s snaps.
