It is dull, damp and grey outside today. Has autumn started already? It certainly has on the High Street. Clothes shops are in the middle of their summer sales and they already have their new ranges in stock.
Seasons in fashion stores has always fascinated me. I’m not one to plan ahead when it comes to clothes, nor to I buy a new wardrobe every season. But anyway, today (because of the rain) I had a wander in and out of some shops to see what was about… and I liked!
The first thing that struck me was the colours. I’m a great lover of colour. I describe myself as “seeing in colour” as my mind is full of colour all the time; and I even used it as the basis of my undergraduate dissertation.
This year I am noticing a lot of traditional autumn colours – you know, all the shades the leaves go when they fall off the trees along with some similar tones – coppers, muted pinks, dark purples, greeny greys, dull yellows and alot of khaki. So it’s going to be a autumn of colour rather than black and grey, but colour will be matt rather than in your face? I can do that!
Here’s a few pieces I wouldn’t mind adding to my wardrobe ready for when the real autumn arrives…
Oh, and these are what I did actually spend some money on… £12 for 3 so a good price!
Now I’m no fashion expert (I’m a long way from that) and I’ve no idea if the fashion chains are planning to change their ranges and styles between now and September (probably!) but I do know that if they stick to the current selection of styles and colours I’ll be happy come autmn.
