Ten More Random Facts About Me

Blog Every Day in November badge

You all know I like a challenge. I just can’t resist. So when I got a tweet asking if I was interested in taking part in this year’s Blog Everyday in November challenge run by Elizabeth over at Rosalilium, I thought about it for about three minutes before I signed up. I haven’t been completely successful at these things in the past but think they are great for inspiration and might be fun. I’ve no idea if I’ll have time to actually do this every single day, or stay in line with the suggested prompts, but I’ll give it a go.

The last blog challenge I did was back in May, when on day one the theme was to share something about ourselves with our readers – I shared ten random facts about me (go read them if you haven’t already) and it turned out you really enjoyed that post as it got loads of hits and quite a few comments – thanks. Today’s challenge is very similar; so I thought I’d go simple and share ten more random facts about me. Enjoy!

I was born on a Wednesday in Welwyn Garden City, which is in Hertfordshire in England. I was a very late arrival and both me and my mum were quite poorly when I was born. To the Chinese I am a monkey. Yes.

I am an introvert. I am very shy in new situations and think “networking” is the worst thing to see on any event schedule. Blogging allows me to express things I would love to chat about in real life, but even after writing a post on a subject I find it hard to bring it up in conversation. Having said that, I am not afraid of public speaking and actually quite enjoy it. I would genuinely like more opportunities to do it; maybe once we’ve done our big North American Road Trip there will be some bookings!

My parents are Church Ministers in The Salvation Army and as a result we moved around a lot as a family. I eventually settled in Lincolnshire where I met LincsGeek. My sister also settled here and my Mum and Dad have moved back here to retire. It’s nice to all be so close to each other again.

I love riding my motorbike and think i’s one of the best ways to see the world, but admit I don’t do it very often. Whereas LincsGeek and other bikers I know enjoy a Saturday ride-out for no reason but to ride, I tend to prefer the touring side of things. I would rather spend my Saturdays walking, writing and relaxing. Having said that, I did head out yesterday to ride over to the Wolds and I enjoyed it. This is okay but it does mean my bike battery has a tendency to go flat, and my riding can be a bit rough the first day of a trip.

Celery makes me sick. I am fine with this because it’s a pointless food anyway, and should have no place in hot or cold salads.

I love hats but I hardly wear them. Mainly because my fine flat hair is incredibly susceptible to hat hair! The exception to the rule are warm beanie hats, which I will wear at every opportunity in winter – I go through cans and cans of dry shampoo.

My first car was a G reg VW Polo. A red one. I loved it. I got it instead of moving out of home for University. It’s tiny little engine and four gears got me all over the place.

I would much rather wear jeans and a jumper than a nice dress. I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy when it comes to “fashion”. You’ll not find any look books or make-up tutorials here on Splodz Blogz!

I love movies but I think going to the cinema is really poor value for money, and we very rarely go. I have heard that the Odeon in Lincoln, my local cinema, is the most expensive in the country – which is a bit ridiculous really considering we are a small city and the cinema isn’t even that big (or good!). I would certainly never buy popcorn at the cinema – total rip off! I would much rather wait and watch it at home. I also hate how it is impossible to see some movies not in 3D; surely I’m not the only one who doesn’t like the 3D experience?

I promised my Dad I’d make a book of his poems and we’d publish it. Ages and ages ago. I haven’t don’t it yet and look at the pile of his work in my study daily and feel terrible how long it has sat there. I will do it. He’s really talented and you’ll definitely want a copy when it’s done – check out the poem he wrote for me. I must do this before I start making any real plans for that range of stationery / paper products I dream of having.

Any of these things ring true for you? Feel free to share below! And if you’re also taking part in BEDN drop your link below and I’ll be sure to check out your blog.

It would be awesome if November could be a month for chatting. Drop me a comment on one of my posts, and give me a follow on twitter, facebook or instagram. If you prefer video, I’ve recently started Splodz Blogz TV, a new YouTube challenge to complement my blog.

PS On this theme, I’m planning an #AskSplodz feature later in the month but for that to work I need your questions! Comment below or tweet with #AskSplodz and I’ll choose the best to answer. What would you like to know?!
