Ready for my annual February daily photo challenge?
Something of a mainstay here on Splodz Blogz (have you taken part in the last seven?!), today I’m sharing the themes for this year’s daily photo challenge, which starts next week.
I hope this will help inspire you in two ways this February – to take a photo every day, and to spend a little bit of time outside every day.

As mentioned in my recent birthday ramblings, sharing my world in photos was how Splodz Blogz started way back in 2010. I created this little corner of the internet with that exact purpose in mind, and shared images, good and (very) bad, every day for at least two years.
These days, daily photos, whether they be on blogs, social media, or just stored on our phones, have turned into something much more delayed and curated. Nothing wrong with that, it’s an excellent way to channel creativity. But here’s a challenge that might get you back into the moment for the next four weeks.
Look Around You
By sharing my annual photo-a-day challenge, I want to encourage you to look at the world around you a little differently to how you might normally, by hunting out things that might fit with each given theme, and documenting it there and then.
Oh, and as this is all part of my One Hour Outside project, I’m also asking you to use the themes given here to inspire you when you get outside every day in February. It’s not a rule or anything, sharing indoor photos is fine, but maybe this is a way to make sure you get outside every day for a month, even if it’s just for five minutes to grab a relevant snap.
Daily Photo Challenge
Each day during February, take a photo that is somehow linked to the given prompt, and share it on your favourite social media using #SplodzDPC.
That’s 28 photos documenting life as you experience it, giving you both a creative project for the month, and something to look back on at the end to remind you of some of the moments you might otherwise forget.
You can interpret the given theme each day any way you choose. I’m sure you can find a way to make it fit the life you happen to be living on the day. It’ll be interesting to see how we each interpret the themes differently (or indeed when we see them the same).
Of course, the idea is that your photograph should be taken and shared on the right day, that’s kind of what I’m going for here. But this isn’t a hard rule (the whole thing is just for fun…), so please share old photos if you like. And don’t worry if you can’t take part every day, you can dip in and out as you feel led.
The main point of the challenge is to use the daily prompts to observe the world around you a little differently, sharing something real. If the themes provide you with an extra excuse to get outside each day (you know, get your One Hour Outside), then that’s just wonderful. If you’re already outdoors, then you’re a step ahead. But if you’re staying inside for whatever reason, whether that’s due to work or illness or something else, then I’m sure you can make these themes work for you too.

Share Your Daily Photos
Each day, take a look at the theme and take a photograph with that in mind. Share it on your favourite social media (or on your blog, vlog or anywhere else you fancy) using #SplodzDPC.
Using the hashtag means I and others taking part can find your photographs and see what you’ve been taking – please share the love by commenting on or liking photos that others taking part are sharing. They’re the same links we’ve used for a few years, so you can already see some of last year’s snaps.

It would be great to have a whole community of daily photo challenge participants once again this year. Follow me on twitter, instagram and/or facebook and then either retweet, repost or share the theme image with your friends to let them know about it.

Excellent! I was hoping you’d do this again.

Really looking forward to seeing what photos you come up with, Roddie 🙂
