In case you are still looking for some suggestions, here are a few gift ideas for outdoor lovers.
For my annual gift ideas for outdoor lovers list this year, I’ve tried to curate a short list a few thoughtful and practical gifts that are sure to make any outdoor enthusiast smile. Whether it’s a seasoned adventurer, or someone who’s just beginning to discover the joys of outdoor activities, the right gift can make all the difference.
I’ve chosen tried and tested gear that will enhance an adventure, items that might encourage someone to spend more time in nature, and even a couple of ‘outdoor adjacent’ ideas that might help your outdoor lover relax.
You might think I’m a little late to the gift ideas party. I say no… with a whole week left before postage becomes a problem, there’s still time to get all these things and wrap them up before the big day.
So, whether you are still to finish your Christmas 2024 shopping, or you are looking for a gift for someone (or yourself…) early in 2025, here are a few gift ideas for outdoor lovers to get your research started.
Gift Ideas for Outdoor Lovers

Personalised Ordnance Survey Map
An Ordnance Survey Custom Map is a thoughtful and unique gift for any outdoor lover – or anyone, really. The personalised service allows you to create a bespoke gift that highlights a special location, route, or memory. Whether it’s a specific hike, a favourite viewpoint, or someone’s own house, you can tailor the map’s centre point to anywhere in Great Britain.
You can order the paper map folded (just like a normal OS Map) or flat (it arrives in a tube), the latter being great to put up on the wall. And of course, with Ordnance Survey’s trusted mapping, this is a gift that can truly inspire a year of adventure.
Personalised OS Map, £21.99 (order by 3pm on 22 December for pre-Christmas delivery).

Pacmat Patch Picnic Blanket for One
Every person who spends time outside alone should have a Pacmat Patch. This perfect-for-one waterproof picnic blanket is an essential in my opinion. They are lightweight (100g), very compact, and easy to carry, making them perfect for spontaneous picnics, rest breaks, or enjoying scenic views during a hike.
Made from durable and water-resistant materials, they provide a comfortable and clean surface to sit on, regardless of the terrain. With its practical design and convenience, this picnic blanket is a must-have for anyone who loves spending time outdoors. Get one.
Pacmat Patch, £18.99-£21.99 (order by 20 December for pre-Christmas delivery).

Teeny Tiny Towel
Just like the Pacmat Patch, this is something every outdoor lover should own, without exception. The Ordnance Survey Micro Towel is small and versatile. This teeny tiny towel packs down to a remarkably small size, making it easy to carry in any backpack or pocket.
Despite its compactness, it is highly absorbent and dries quickly, making it ideal for a variety of uses such as drying off after a swim, wiping down gear, or cleaning up after cooking a meal. Its durable and lightweight material ensures it can withstand the rigours of outdoor adventures while providing reliable performance. A micro towel is an essential item for any hiker, camper, traveller, dog walker, parent, or anyone who does anything outside!
OS Micro Towel, £10.50 (order by 3pm on 20 December for pre-Christmas delivery).

Slippers by Simba for Indoors and Outdoors
Anyone who spends hours on their feet in heavy or tight outdoor-focused footwear understands the need for a good pair of slippers. Make it a pair with a decent sole that can be worn inside and outside, and you are onto a winner. These are the STORMUR slippers by Simba – the mattress company – who have recently brought out a range of slippers with a reflexology-inspired footbed.
The felted clogs look great and are very practical; the felt uppers are warm, the wide toe box allows the feet to spread, the insole is comfortable, and the rubber outsole is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. I’ve not had mine long at all, but I already recommend them, they are perfect for letting my feet relax after a long day outside.
Simba’s Slipper range, £69 (mine arrived within 48 hours of ordering – tip from Simba, go up a size).

Cosy Blanket
A cosy Rumpl blanket is a great gift for the outdoor lover in your life who likes to get cosy – in their tent, by the campfire, while watching sport, or at home on the sofa. Made from durable recycled materials, Rumpl blankets are not only warm and soft, but are also water-resistant and packable, ensuring they can handle proper use outdoors. Oh, and they’re washable, too.
The vibrant designs mean you can get just the right one for the outdoor lover in your life – my bright green original puffy (the one pictured above) couldn’t be more me!
Rumpl blanket (or Wildbounds), £90.

Waterproof Notebook
A waterproof notebook is an excellent small gift or stocking filler for an outdoor enthusiast who love to jot down notes, sketches, or ideas while exploring.
These durable notebooks are designed to withstand rain, mud, and even full submersion in water, ensuring that no matter the weather conditions, their notes remain intact. Whether it’s for documenting a hiking trail, planning a camping trip, or simply doodling by a lakeside, this is a practical and thoughtful gift that any adventurer will appreciate.
Rite in the Rain Notebook, £7 (get the all-weather pen to go with it, £22.50 – or just use an Ikea pencil!).

Matador Snack Pots
I’ve definitely included the Matador Canisters in previous gift guides, and I make no apologies for that. These compact, lightweight containers are perfect for storing snacks, keeping them fresh and secure during adventures.
Made from durable, food-safe materials, they are designed to be leak-proof and airtight, ensuring that your snacks stay protected from the elements. I’ve had mine for years, and am not kidding when I say I use them almost every day. Mine are the larger 100ml size.
Matador Canisters (or Amazon), £14.95.

Kula Cloth Pee Rag
It might seem overly personal, but I think a Kula Cloth makes an incredibly practical gift. This reusable pee rag is designed specifically for women, providing a hygienic and environmentally friendly alternative to toilet paper. It features a double-sided design with an absorbent, antimicrobial side and a waterproof side, ensuring cleanliness and convenience.
It’s compact, easily attaches to a backpack, and is perfect for hiking, camping, or any outdoor activity where wild wees might be on the cards. It’s a thoughtful and practical gift that promotes hygiene and sustainability in the great outdoors. Read my Kula Cloth review.
Kula Cloth, £19.99.

Wood Carving Kit
This craft kit to create a little wooden comfort bird is on my wish list this year. It’s not only a creative and relaxing activity, but also allows someone to connect with nature even when they’re indoors – or when they are on a camping trip. I’m told the process of carving can be meditative, and hopefully also provides a sense of accomplishment at the end.
The kit – the example I found is from BeaverCraft – comes with all the necessary tools and instructions, and is designed for beginners. I can see this being a perfect way to unwind and enjoy a hands-on, nature-inspired craft.
Wood Carving Kit (or Amazon), £37.99.

The Gift of Dinner
Does your outdoor lover like to go on overnight adventures? Then buy them dinner… Adventure meals aren’t cheap, but they are oh so appreciated, a practical and luxurious treat. My personal favourites are by Firepot – high-quality, freeze-dried, nutritious meals made in batches using real ingredients in the UK. They’re lightweight and easy to prepare with just hot water, and I can confirm they are delicious.
This is you giving the comfort of a home-cooked meal when they are in the wild. And if you want full-on theming, they’ve made a batch of Christmas dinners (which I am hoping to find Santa has brought me this year!).
Firepot Meal, from £7.49 (£9.49 for the limited-edition Christmas dinner).

Adventure Audiobook
Everyone likes an adventure story – especially others who go on adventures. Whether it’s a gripping tale of survival, an epic journey, or a memoir of a famous adventurer, a well-chosen book can provide hours of entertainment and inspiration.
But here’s the twist; make it audio. This allows outdoor enthusiasts to listen to stories while they’re on the go, during a hike, on a long drive, or when relaxing at home. It’s a thoughtful and versatile gift that caters to their adventurous spirit, providing entertainment and inspiration no matter where they are. You can’t buy specific books from Audible, but you can buy single credits and send that to your outdoor loving giftee with your book recommendation – here are some suggestions.
Audible Credit, £7.99.
Do you give and receive outdoors themed gifts at Christmas time? What are you hoping Santa will be bringing you to help inspire your outdoor adventures in 2025?
In the interests of full disclosure, please note that the slippers mentioned were a recent gift from Simba (thank you so much Simba – they really are fantastic slippers). There are also affiliate links on this page, the funds from which help me go on the mini adventures that make life interesting. If you buy something from a website after using one of my links, I receive a very small commission. This does not cost you anything. Thank you for supporting my future adventures.
