Recently my friend Cathy sent me a tube of toothpaste to test and review. I’ve been using it for just over a week now and so I thought it was about time I should share my thoughts.
It is the Arm & Hammer “Brilliant Sparkle” toothpaste. It’s a gel toothpaste which is supposed to “remove up to five times more plaque than ordinary toothpaste” and be a “high-performance toothpaste innovation” (that last bit made me giggle “toothpaste innovation” tee hee hee!).
All over the box and on the website, Arm & Hammer go on about how fabulous this toothpaste is and how it will make your teeth amazingly clean. They push the science and to be honest it’s all a bit “markety” – it’s just toothpaste right?
I was expecting the toothpaste to have a strong minty flavour, but when I used it for the first time I was surprised to find it quite subtle. The box says “cool-breathe minty gel”, which it is, but nowhere near as minty as my normal choice and while it left my mouth feeling fresh and clean, I didn’t feel I had minty breath.
I used the toothpaste on my Oral B Sonicare toothbrush and I agree, it gave me a good clean. I can’t say for certain if it removes as much plaque as it claims (I obviously didn’t go to the dentist before and after), but I do think it gave me a better clean than the toothpaste I use normally.
At £2.49 for 75ml this toothpaste comes out much more expensive than the Colgate Total I normally buy, but I do think it’s good. I’m not sure I would swap unless the price came down, but it is worth a try.
The toothpaste’s official website is here: http://www.brilliantsparkle.co.uk/
