It looks like it’s going to be the third hottest summer on record, which – let’s face it – is pretty much what I asked for. Ok so I didn’t ask for the humidity leading to feeling more sweaty doing everyday tasks than I think I ever have done on a 10km run (not to mention the dampness experienced on the Tube a couple of weekends ago!), but I certainly requested a flip flop summer.
Last summer I continued to wear my patent black Dr Martens boots with leggings all through July and August thanks to all that rain. This year I have realised how poor my sandals collection actually is… so I’ve gone and treated myself to a gorgeous pair of green Air Step wedge sandals to see me through what will hopefully be continued blue skies and warm temperatures (yes, it’s raining outside as I write this!).
These are my new Air Step Solaris sandals in Aqua (also available in red and camel).
What do you think? They’re green (of course!), have wide straps with buckle fastenings over the toes and across the top of the foot, and have a chunky sole and wedge heel. They are quite heavy but the nice wide foot-bed means they are comfortable to walk in, and the fact they are leather means they will soften up to become exactly the right shape for my feet over the next few wears. The straps keep my feet in place and the shoes feel fantastically stable. They are very me, I think – I love them!
After getting those boots last month and these this month, I can see Air Step becoming one of my favourite shoe brands this year.
And yes, I need to paint my toe nails and fake tan my legs!
