Brabantia Pimp Our Print

Brabantia have launched an international competition to showcase new designers’ talent… they want you to “pimp their print”!

They are asking people to to create a successor to the Brabantia iconic Patrice design, created by Patrice van Uden in 1970. That design has been Brabantia’s most popular for 40 years, but now it is time to go for something new that neatly captures the spirit of today.

I am no designer but I really enjoy a creative challenge like this one, so I had a think about what I thought I and other people would like to see in their kitchen. I’ve been sent a Brabantia canister with a little design pack to help me so it seemed only right that I gave it my best shot.

You all know my favourite colour is green and it does seem to be featured a lot in home fashions at the moment. Green is also the colour of nature, of the natural environment, so I went with a simple grass, cloud and birds design. You get the idea from my drawing…

I see my design repeating three times around the tin so it can be seen however the tin is left on the side. And if you want a series then how about a sea, cloud and birds one in blue, or a beach, cloud and birds one in yellow. Something for everyone!

What do you reckon? A contender?!

Anyway, this is just me messing about, but if you have real skill in design and have an idea for the next range of Brabantia canisters, then make sure you head over to www.brabantia.com/design for all the details and to submit your design idea. Entries must be in by 22nd October. The winner, chosen by a panel of international design bloggers and the Brabantia Jury, will have their design appear on a range of Brabantia products from canisters to bins, as well as a trip to Salone Internazionale del Mobil 2014 in Milan. The competition is open to all budding designers across the globe regardless of age, experience or location. Worth a try, I say!

Apart from the main winner, there is also a “people’s choice” award which is based on the number of votes designs receive on the Brabantia Pimp our Print website. The five most popular designs will receive a set of canisters with their design printed on it.

If you enter (make sure you check www.brabantia.com/design for the artwork specifications), feel free to add a link to your design below so I can go and take a look. And if you win… well there must be a +1 available for the Milan trip!!

Disclaimer: I was sent details of this design competition, along with a Brabantia canister, through the Fuel My Blog scheme so I could share it with all of you.
