Shoes Too Garish?

You all know I love my shoes. If I had a pound for the number of times I’ve been asked how many pairs of shoes I bought in New York… (none by the way, that’s none, honest). But the fact is that while I may well have exaggerated the number of pairs I need, my shoe style is actually very conservative. There are many shoes out there that I look at and know I could never pull them off.

Brands like Irregular Choice and Iron Fist come to mind instantly, but there are others such as Poetic Licence. Don’t get me wrong, their court shoes and boots are absolutely gorgeous, stunning to look at, the stuff of fairy stories and Disney princesses. Whenever I see someone walking around with things like this on it makes me smile from ear to ear – I’m jealous! But can they actually be worn unless you are an eccentric or in fancy dress?

I absolutely adore these beautiful court shoes with the striped bow by Irregular Choice. The perspex heel is fabulous, and the use of different patterned materials is brilliant. But they are totally out there, they are a little bit crazy, and I couldn’t rock up to the office wearing them with my sensible trousers, top and cardigan. They’re just not me!

These black ribboned and patterned boots are also by Irregular Choice – they are, again, a little bit crazy and I love them! But I would feel very self conscious walking around town wearing them.

So my question is – would you, do you, wear these amazingly decorated shoes? Where? When? And what with? Are they destined for my dreams or display case, or should I just get on with it and find a little black dress to wear them with?
