It’s Nearly the New Year!

posted in: Personal | 10

Have you started thinking about next year yet? I know some of you have because I’ve already read a number of New Year themed blog posts that I have found interesting and inspiring. I also know some of you have rather fabulous plans and expectations for the coming year.

So what are your plans? Your hopes? Are you making any resolutions for 2014?

2014 New Year Sunset

I guess the usual feature for many of you… Get fit, lose a bit of weight, spend more time with your family, do more of whatever hobby you feel you’ve neglected, get a new job, finish decorating your house, drink more water, raise money for charity. Many of those things will be objectives for us all this year. And as always whether you succeed or not will depend on how much effort you put into your chosen goal.

For me this year, while some of those things above are definitely relevant, I have chosen something much more general as my New Year promise to myself. Something that should encompass lots of things that will hopefully make 2014 a very happy and productive year for me. And that is…

Make the most of my time.

Simple eh? Actually, and I know I’m not the only one, I am very good at wasting my time. I can be rather lazy at times. In 2014 I have every intention of regaining my focus and making decisions based on what I really need and want. This includes the day job as well as my home life, and especially my blogging life. I’m talking about being focused and using my hours, my minutes, wisely. This doesn’t mean that I won’t have lazy evenings or will stop watching rubbish on the telly (no way!) – but rather that I will be more considered and careful with my moments. Life is all about the journey, and I want to make 2014 really count.

I know we’re not done with 2013 yet, there are a handful of days left to go… but it’s good to get organised with these things don’t you think?

Please share your 2014 goals below so we can encourage each other to achieve. And if you’ve written a blog post on the subject please share the link so I can have a nosey!

I don’t normally do resolutions, but I do like to have a think about the year just gone and how I want to spend my time in the coming year. A bit of a different year for me so slightly different goals!
    > get back to the UK in one piece
    > get a job/start earning some money
    > find somewhere to live

I think they are three very key things you’ve set yourself there! Here’s hoping all of them go very smoothly.

Good luck with the blogging. I always wonder about the focus of Splodz Blogz, and every time I consider it I decide to keep it as an everything blog. I look forward to reading your blog as it develops in 2014.

That’s a great resolution! I alway aim to make the most of my time but unfortunately I beat myself up about it and sometimes don’t take time I relax! That’s why my 3rd goal is to stress less!
    All the best for 2014

Ah yes I hear you on that one – hope that you are able to use 2014 to stress less about what you are/aren’t doing.
