INTRODUCING THE ONE HOUR OUTSIDE STORE

posted in: Fashion, Personal, The Outdoors | 0

One Hour Outside is my little campaign to get you – yes, you – to spend a little bit of time outside every single day. It was my response when I heard that a quarter of people in the UK feel that a 15-minute walk is too far and they will take the car instead. I decided I should be doing my part to encourage people to spend a little bit of time outside, in the fresh air and natural light, on a daily basis (yes, whatever the weather!). The idea is borne from a passion for the everyday outside that has also meant I have been a proud Ordnance Survey GetOutside Champion for the last two years.

I guess it was only a matter of time before I created some physical things to sell that help to share my One Hour Outside message – “merch” if you’re down with the kids. Doing this has been on my bucket list for a couple of years, and so here I am, sharing and selling my wares. I had a soft launch a few weeks ago to test things out a little bit and know that a few people have already got their hands on one of my designs – and that makes me feel really rather good!

At the moment I am offering just a small handful of textile products with a couple of simple One Hour Outside designs. There are tees, a tote, and a jumper, all created and sold via Teemill. I know there are a few bloggers out there at the moment who are working with Teemill on collaborations and campaigns, I am not one of them; I chose Teemill because they came recommended to me from a couple of people, and have good ethics and standards. The designs, drawings and ideas are mine (I think you’ll love my One Hour Outside Lollipop Trees!), but Teemill sort out the production and shipping for me – which is good for everyone. There is more information here about how/where the products are made, and if you have an order number you can meet the people who made yours.

The garments are unisex and I can confirm the quality of the basic tee is really rather good, I love my mustard yellow tee (it’s a really great colour!) and wear it with pride. I’m generally a UK10 and am very comfortable in the small. I make a teeny bit of profit on each product sold, which I will be putting towards future One Hour Outside adventures.

What I would love is, if you choose to part with your cash and buy one or more of my One Hour Outside products, that you share snaps of it (and you!) using #OneHourOutside on your favourite social media. Actually, even if you don’t buy a tee or tote, share your everyday outdoors snaps with me anyway – I genuinely love to see and hear about your One Hour Outside adventures. How many times do you think I can use “One Hour Outside” in this short post? I’m not done yet…!

The range is quite small at the moment, but there are more designs and products to come. I have a notebook bursting with ideas and sketches – there will be a special edition tee to celebrate One Hour Outside November Challenge this year, and maybe even a Christmas jumper! But for now I would definitely recommend getting your hands on one of the original collection – you can say you were part of the early One Hour Outside revolution!
