PLANTING TREES IN MY LOUNGE WITH TENTREE CLOTHING

posted in: Gifted, Home, The Outdoors | 7

How are you at relaxing? I’m kind of okay at it. I mean, I do relax, but I’m not very good choosing to relax. Which means that when I finish relaxing, I feel guilty about it because it happened by default and not on purpose. But I’m working on it. Something for my 2021 goals list, perhaps.

Just before Christmas I received a lovely gift from the people at tentree in the form of some joggers and a hoodie, to encourage me to switch off a bit over Christmas in complete comfort. And to prove that did sit still a bit (actually a lot), here’s me on my sofa, complete with tea, chocolate, iPad and books, modelling my new loungewear.

After the Adventure

tentree create aspirational products for outdoor lovers. Yes, this is what they say about themselves, but I can confirm because I have indeed aspired to own some clothing from this Canadian brands for a good couple of years. Which is, of course, why this opportunity to collaborate made me rather happy indeed.

They were quick to tell me, when we chatted, that they don’t make technical apparel. Rather, this is the gear you want to put on after you’ve done the thing that requires the technical gear and want to be warm, comfortable and relaxed. And I’m every bit here for that.

I mean, let’s face it, the comfortable and relaxed look is the main look right now, but even pre-pandemic, before I was spending 23 hours a day in my own home, I have always been a fan of good quality loungewear.

Trees for Clothes

Most importantly, and the thing tentree is quite rightly best known for, is that this is a company doing things right by our planet. Rooted in the belief that we have a responsibility to protect and preserve the world we live in, for every item of clothing purchased, tentree plant ten trees. Tentree… get it?!

You can even see where those trees are planted thanks to little tags on the clothing items. Which is kinda cool.

Not only that, but the pieces are made from sustainable materials, tentree are transparent about their impact, are inclusive to body types, affordable without sacrificing on quality, and make stuff that is both functional and comfortable. All in all, tentree as a company are doing things in the best way they can, and I appreciate that stance.

My tentree Clothing

If you’ve seen any advertising for tentree recently then you’ve probably spotted the Constellation Juniper Hoodie. Mine is in the Sweet Birch Yellow, which is such a lovely colour, and just seems to go with everything.

This is a midweight fleece lined sweater with a regular fit, made from 60% organic cotton and 40% recycled polyester, so it’s as soft as you like. The classic hoodie design is as you would expect, but the glow-in-the-dark starry print makes it a tad unique. Yes, glow in the dark constellations on a hoodie; it’s subtle, but the Oeko-Tex certified ink definitely works!

The joggers, sorry, sweatpants, are part of the new Lorax collection, which is both adorable and very well suited to the brand. They are the Lorax Bamone Sweatpant, in black, with “I speak for the trees” on the left thigh.

These are fleece sweatpants with an elasticated waist, a couple of hand pockets, and elastic cuffs. They are made from 55% organic cotton, 26% recycled polyester, 19% Tencel lyocell, making them super soft and relaxing while also keeping their shape even when you’ve been sat cross legged for a while.

And they are honestly and genuinely the best joggers I’ve ever had. That’s probably not difficult, seeing as my others were about £10 from H&M, but I’m trying to move away from fast fashion and be sure I consider sustainability and responsibility when I get new clothes.

The quality of both top and bottom really is excellent, the designs are cute with nods to the outdoors and their environmental credentials, and the pieces are true to size. I went for the medium in both top and bottom (I’m a short UK10-12), and that works perfectly for me. I could fit in the small top, I’m sure, but it would not be as cosy. And I can wear these pieces for days without them becoming misshapen or baggy.

There are so many great looking pieces on the website. I have a particular eye on the very cosy looking Flannel Utility Jacket, in the red plaid. Yes?!

Work Day and Travel Day Hygge

I mentioned that 2020 was the year I ditched restrictive trousers (read my end of year gratitude post). And since I’ve been working from home in the main, I’ve had the pleasure of doing so in my joggers, no-one knows, or cares.

Comfortable loungewear has become my normal day wear, and I’m happy to admit that. And that means that loungewear is not confined to the post-adventure recovery phase these days; we’re all wearing fleece this and elasticated that on a daily basis, and I think we are better off for it. Some people say you need to power dress to do your best work, I disagree, I do mine when I’m calm and happy. Especially when at home; no-one wants to be uncomfortable sat at their laptop in whatever space they have managed to turn into a desk  in their home.

But these are not to be confined to the home. tentree clothing is also perfect for travel days – long trips in the car or on a plane (when allowed…), for camping or glamping trips away (bring on the campfires!), or for any other occasion when feeling warm and snug is the thing you need.

Having some great quality, sustainable loungewear which is a pleasure to put on at the end of a day adventuring outside, when travelling for hours, or when you simply want to feel warm and comfortable when inside or outside, is a must. And having worn and washed these tentree pieces over the last month or so, I will happily sign my name recommending these to you.

Many thanks indeed to tentree for the loungewear gift in the run up to Christmas. Exactly what I needed. These items were gifted but this is not a sponsored post.

Glow in the dark hoodie!! Amazing! I have been thinking about getting some new ‘evening wear’ joggies (mine are shot!) and have been toing and froing with making my own or buying. I will have to check out Tentree, thanks.

Glad you’ve been making some time for some purposeful relaxing. (especially with snacky bits too!)

I know, cool huh?! I would honestly highly recommend tentree, it’s a great brand and the joggers are uber comfy.

And I’m doing my best. Always with snacks 🙂

I could do with some more comfortable stuff for lounging around in (I mean working very hard, of course) at home. They look great!

Nice post. After getting used to comfy clothing for so long, I wonder how we’ll ever return to “normal” work clothes. I suspect we’ll feel naturally resistant to them. An interesting coda to a transitional period.

I was thinking the same… I don’t think I will be ready for “proper” clothes (and shoes) for a long time yet!
